More Mini Book

We have a tradition in our house of spreading Reindeer Food on the lawn on Christmas Eve. These are just straight forward pages, I used the slice above to cut a scalloped edge frame for my date and used Thickers. I used my favourite pom pom ribbon.





I printed the verse that goes with the food and added it as a tag. I found the Making Memories flowers went well with the colours in the album.




Then I did a couple of page on the Christmas lights which is another tradition of ours which the kids really love. The clothes they are wearing match the paper so well, pink and green (I didn't set that up it just happened). I used another My Minds Eye printed transparencies for the title page and Making Memories alphabet stickers, I really love those stickers!

On another note, my zucchini slice was too salty, for me anyway but Anthony ate it so it didn't go to waste. Got another 2 cucumbers from the garden and my corn in ready to pick.

Emma woke up sick this morning with a vomiting thing, guess those temps did mean something after all.

Part 3

The next couple of pages of my album are dedicated to Nathan's Joey Scouts Christmas party. I used a transparency that was already printed as a centre page and just backed photos that are the same size on each side. You can see I have the top of the frame missing on the page below, I made a mistake with the slice but found a way to use it anyway.

The next three pages are our letters to/from Santa. I forgot to take photos or keep copies of the letters my kids wrote to Santa. I had to make do with just journalling about it on the pink mini page and then I included envelopes, one for Emma, one for Nathan which I put the letters in that they got from Santa. The envelopes are really plain but I like them that way. I used the Slice to cut a scalloped edge circle and then added their initial with Making Memories Alphabet stickers. The paperclips are really just to keep it sealed.

Only Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to go now! Will post them in the next few days although I have to admit that I haven't finished the Christmas Day pages yet.

I am actually in school mode now and have started preparing all my resources for this year. I think scrapping will probably take a back seat for the next few weeks.

Nathan and I went to the movies today and saw Bedtime Stories, I really liked it. We wanted to see Bolt but it wasn't on until after lunch and we were there at 10am. We are going to see it next week.

Emma had her first day in the pre school room at the Day Care Centre today. She was very shy and didn't want me to leave this morning which is very unlike her. She had a great day once I had gone though. I did get a call at 2.30pm to pick her up because she had a temperature. I don't know what is going on with her, she starts the day fine and by the afternoon has a temp but is not really sick, just tired. Anyway she came home and after Panadol she is back to her old self again.

Made Zucchini Slice with my huge home grown zucchini last night, we are having it for dinner tonight with salad, lets hope it's good! Actually when I was making it, Emma was mixing it for me and accidentally tipped a huge amount of salt in it. It was rock salt and I think I managed to scoop it all out but who knows, so disaster could be looming!

Mini Christmas album - The next few pages

The next pages in my book are about our visit to the city to see Santa and to ride on the North Pole Express (a small train in Myer). I used a transparency inbetween these pages which I stamped to embellish it a bit with some bling. I tried to put in the things we collected on the day so I have tucked in the train tickets on this page.





On this page I have slipped in the train photo ticket you get and the golden train tickets the kids got when they rode the train. I like these couple of pages because they are busy and say a lot just by putting those few things in.

I was a bad mother at Emma's kindy party at the day care centre because I forgot my camera. So, I have no photos. To compensate for that I used an envelope and put in a copy of the programme from the night (it was too big to just slot in).

And then I used a photo of one of the Christmas decorations Emma made at kindy for the photo. I really love the idea of using the envelopes to put stuff in, I think I will use that a lot more from now on in my mini albums.

On a new note, Emma and I had a fabulous day today at the calm beach on Bribie Island with Toni and Tyler. Thankyou for a great day. The kids just played in the water and in the park while we sat and talked and did nothing really. What a great way to spend a day!

Mini Christmas Album

I was inspired this year by Ali Edwards with her December Daily album and Gail Lindner by her Amelia's First Christmas album to make a mini album of my own about our family traditions at Christmas. So you can see that I grabbed a mini binder album (Maya Road) out of the cupboard and started. I have used the My Minds Eye Christmas paper for the whole album along with matching Bazzil. On the cover I painted the spine because it was too hard to cover and I used a felt star which I sewed around and used buttons to embellish. I have a B on the star for Barro and Thickers for the words and I used the Slice to cut the brackets. On the spine I used ribbon to embellish and some small bells. I used the keyring the kids got when we visited Santa too.







I used a tag as a mini title page to start and I have put the album into chronological order. I used the slice a lot in this album you can see that I used it to make a 4 inch scalloped edge circle here for my journalling (below). I used a Christmas tree punch from Blossies alot to decorate my album because I was too late for the paper with the trees that I could have cut to use. The punch still worked nicely.







I devoted a few pages to decorating the tree because I had a few nice photos, I have dedicated a different number of pages to each festive activity.






I will share a few more pages each day this week. I don't think it is wonderful work by me but it is a memento and that is what matters.

On a different note, I made dinner tonight with our very own silverbeet and basil. It was delicious!

Visit to the Beach

We have just come back from a really good few days down at Pottsville. Thanks Nat and Terry for having us, we always enjoy any time we spend with you guys.

The best thing about Pottsville is that you can walk just over the road to the river or the surf beach so the kids can swim and play. These photos were taken at the beach, Emma had a fantastic time playing in the shallows and Nathan loved tackling the waves with Ehrin.

I have been working on finishing my mini Christmas album and I am nearly done so I will share some photos of it in the next couple of days. I wouldn't say it is great but it is a record of our Christmas. I got the idea from Gail Linder's blog.

I am also thinking about my word for the year, I am always inspired by Ali Edwards and her word each year. I was going to do it this year and lost my mojo for it but I think I will have a word for 2009. I have a few ideas, I will post my word when I have decided for sure. Family Time & A New Year

I have had a really great few days. We have just chilled out at home and enjoyed some family time. We did no work around the house until yesterday we just lazed around watching movies, playing monopoly junior (a xmas present of Nathans) and eating good food.

For New Years Eve we are going down to Pottsville to visit Nat and Terry, I am really looking forward to getting away for a couple of days and having someone to drink champagne sorbets with. I won't be able to blog for a few days.

To finish the year I have added a slideshow of my favourite photos from 2008 (at the top of this post). We have had a couple of fantastic holidays this year, plus a big day when Suey got married.

Christmas 2008!

We have enjoyed our festive activities over the last couple of days. Yesterday saw us busy getting ready for Santa, we made Santas plate together, each getting to choose what we wanted to go on it and Anthony getting to choose the drink.

We also spread our reindeer food over the lawn so that the reindeer could easily find our house in the dark. This is one of my favourite Christmas activities, the kids really love it and truly believe that it leads the reindeers to our house.

Then bedtime came, well at 1am Nathan was still awake so excited about Santa he could hardly control himself and so because he was awake so was I, until 1.30am! When i finally thought it was safe to deliver presents and snack on Santa's plate. Little did I know that Nathan would be back up at 4.30am!!

The kids were so happy and excited with their presents, I just love to watch it. They opened them in what seemed like 2 seconds flat! Then we had family presents, I was so excited to open my family present, which was the complete box set for Sex in the City. All 6 series and a bonus dvd. I have managed to watch the first 3 episodes so far, they are fantastic! I am hoping to pick up the movie at the sales tomorrow.

Anyway, after a full day of eating, being merry and having family time I, and the rest of us are exhausted!

Toni, I hope you had a wonderful birthday and got plenty of special presents! Happy Birthday.

Christmas 2008!

We have had a wonderful Christmas and the kids have especially enjoyed the festive activities. Last night we sprinkled our reindeer food so the reindeers could find our house.

Christmas Lights

Emma and Nathan had a fabulous time at the Christmas lights, playing in the fake snow while waiting for the train to come.

Hooray I have a blog!!!

Well, it have thought about it and thought about it and now took the leap and did it. I created my own blog! There are lots of things I want to do and don't know how right now but I will figure them out as I go. Let's hope people enjoy reading my blog as much as I enjoy reading other peoples.

So Merry Christmas!

Last night we thought we would hold up a family tradition and go looking at Christmas lights. We headed to our favourite house at Morayfield and the kids had the most amazing time playing in the pretend snow and having a ride on the North Pole Express train. Santa was there giving out lollies, absolute Kid Heaven! We also visited a few other favourite Christmas light spots and had an all round good time. I will add some photos as soon as I have uplaoded them from the camera.

Also had a lovely morning this morning baking goodies for Christmas Day, I made gingerbreads, scotch balls (our version of rum balls because we don't drink rum!) and gorgeous little Christmas puddings. I will Post photos of them with the Christmas lights photos.
