Celebrating 10 years...

We recently celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary and what better way for us to recognise the occasion than with a trip away.  Seeing as though we love to travel so much this seemed the perfect option for us.  One of the places we have wanted to go but hadn't gotten to yet was Fraser Island.  We headed over there for 3 nights with the kids.  We stayed at Kingfisher Bay Resort in a 2 bedroom villa and we loved our time there.

You know you love being somewhere when you spend your afternoons having drinks and talking about when you can go back.

We made the most of our time away and packed plenty of fun in.

We took our beach wagon with us and went across to the island on this barge.  The weather was really beautiful.

We spent our days driving around on tracks like this.  It is an amazing place.  When you are driving along these tracks one minute you are in the bush and then next minute the temperature drops and you are going through rainforest...really amazing and beautiful.

One of our first stops was Lake Mackenzie.  The water was clear and cold.  I was really surprised here, if you want to eat you have to eat in the fenced area, there are no bins etc either because of the dingoes.

I spent lots of my time looking through my lens, I took hundreds of photos, the scenery was too good not to capture.

Back at the resort in the afternoons we chilled out doing different things.  One afternoon we sat by the pool while the kids swam and we drank cocktails.  Another afternoon the kids participated in a fishing clinic on the jetty.

After the clinic we had beers at the Jetty Hut and a yummy antipasto plate while we watched the sunset.

When we ventured out another day we hit the surf side and did some beach driving.  We drove up to the Maheno wreck to check out the shipwreck.

There were so many tourists here it was almost impossible to get a photo without other people in it!

I have to say that my favourite place was Lake Wabby.  This is a shot of it from the lookout point.

You can't drive to it so we parked and walked the track.  It was 1.2km and a lovely downhill stroll to Lake Wabby but a hard uphill walk back!

When we were there all you could see was sand dunes and water and bush.  It was absolutely amazing.

This is the view from where we sat.

The kids really loved this place.

And we headed out to dinner on our anniversary to a really nice restaurant at the resort.  Nathan took a photo of us before we left.

We loved our getaway and can't wait to head back to Fraser for a longer stay in the future.
