Love them...

I got 2 of my very favourite postcards ever this week from around the world via Postcrossing so I thought I would share them.

Happy Postcrossing

We got 4 postcards last week from people all over the world.  It was really nice to receive so many at once! I thought I would share.  I actually think Anthony and I enjoy postcrossing more than the kids, but that's OK, we are interested in what people send and have to say...

We have been on the lookout ourselves for postcards to add to our own collection ready to send and picked up some good ones on the weekend in the city.  They are all touristy ones that we have at the moment, I need a visit to the art gallery or somewhere like that to pick up some others I think.

I am thinking, and working on a way to display/keep our cards.  I've thought of a photo album but I don't think the larger sized cards will fit..I've thought about a string somewhere with our latest/most favourite ones pegged on?  I am still thinking...

Postcrossing

This week we were quite excited when our first 2 postcards arrived from Postcrossing.  We got one from Lithuania

I like this one with a quote and little birds on it... The quote says "With the columns of yours, you reined the revolution of my soul' (I think).  Anyway I think it's quite lovely.

And the second one we got was from Germany...

This one was really cool to get, it is actually an ad card from Germany when they were introducing the Euro.  It is of a vintage money box.  The star is actually cut out of the card, don't really know why.  I found this one really interesting to get and it's my favourite so far.

We have 5 postcards right now on their way to people all over the world, to Canada, Japan, Germany , Netherlands and Belarus.

I have to say that this is a really great site to join, it is not expensive to send a postcard to someone and show them where we live in the world (or whatever you please really).  The kids are loving choosing postcards for people and getting some back.   I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in other places.  The site is www.postcrossing.com.

It is also fun being on the lookout for interesting cards that might be good to send, if you know of a place to get some send me a message and let me know!

Yummy new books

As many know I really love books, you can never have too many nice books right?  Even if you don't read them all they look gorgeous on the bookshelf for one day...  so I saw a couple of books I liked and they were buy one get one free last week in Coles so I indulged and here they are

I wonder what I will cook first?  I have looked through these books about 5 times so far dreaming of what I would love to cook.    A great little Mother's Day treat for me (although at $6 each I think I would of had them anyway!).

Oh, and our first postcard arrived in Germany today, yeh, now we can get one back from somewhere, I wonder where it will come from?  We are sending our next one to Netherlands.

Postcrossing

I was reading on Melissa Goodsell's blog yesterday about a site you can join called Postcrossing.  It is a site where you join up and you are given an address somewhere in the world to send a postcard to, then when that person gets it they log the tracking number into the site and then your address is given to someone else and they send you a postcard.  This constantly continues with you sending and receiving postcards from all corners of the world. Nathan was very excited about the whole concept so we joined the site and today after school we stopped at Wamuran post office and bought 4 postcards to start out postcard exchange journey.  Our first postcard is being posted to Germany, won't it be exciting when we start to get postcards in return?  I wonder where they will come from?
